La Marzocco - Coffee Academy

A stone’s throw from Florence, a new destination for coffee enthusiasts has officially opened: Accademia del Caffè Espresso.

Founded by La Marzocco, an espresso machine manufacturer, Accademia is a multifunctional platform that aims to promote and disseminate the culture of quality coffee on multiple levels.

Established in the former La Marzocco factory, the Accademia is now an open, shared space. It houses a museum chronicling the company’s 90-year history and technological innovation, botany, and the origins of the coffee plant; laboratories for research and training; a library; a historical archive; and a professional kitchen.

Tracce.tv, in collaboration with Except, has created a series of media and graphic installations that bring the rooms dedicated to the history of the brand and its iconic coffee machines to life.

Interactive tables and mechanical graphics

An immersive journey that combines design, technology, and visual storytelling. For the Accademia del Caffè Espresso in Florence, the entire design and creation of the graphic content for the multimedia tables and touch screens was created by designer Giorgio Deponti .

The graphic design came to life in two key areas of the museum:

  • The Hall of Origins: An interactive journey to discover the origins of coffee, where dynamic maps and infographics guide visitors through the growing lands, climates, and stories of the producers.

  • The Mechanics Room: An in-depth visual analysis of the internal components of a coffee machine. Through intuitive touch interfaces, the technological secrets and engineering behind perfect extraction are revealed to the public in a clear and informative way.
